PRESS RELEASE - Skydive Lake Wanaka Flying High in Tourism

Skydive Lake Wanaka was today announced as a finalist in this year's prestigious New Zealand Tourism Industry Awards, identifying it as one of the top small tourism business in New Zealand.

Owner Jools Hall said she was extremely proud that 12 years of hard work and dedication has lead to the company receiving this recognition.

"Being a New Zealand Tourism Industry Award Finalist is a massive achievement for Skydive Lake Wanaka," she said. "It gives our team the recognition they deserve for their hard work and dedication to customer service and providing the best possible tandem skydive experience."

Skydive Lake Wanaka was established in August 1995 by Dave and Jools Hall, with just one Tandem Master (Dave) a leased Cessna 180 aircraft, a van (the office) and two deck chairs. The perfect recipe of Dave’s technical knowledge, Jools' skills and experience in marketing and customer service, combined with their passion for skydiving has delivered to over 40,000 customers an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives - an exhilarating 200 kph freefall from 9,000, 12,000 or 15,000 feet followed by a breathtaking five minute parachute ride.

From those humble beginners, one of Wanaka's most successful tourism businesses has flourished and Skydive Lake Wanaka now operates from a new custom built hangar with a reception area and shop. Customers leap from a brand new turbine aircraft which is comfortable, climbs quickly, and offers excellent aerial views of the stunning scenery surrounding Lake Wanaka. All the instructors are rated by the New Zealand Parachute Industry Association, and are personally selected for their skydiving experience, personality and customer service skills.

"Our mission is to give customers the most rewarding, memorable, safe and scenic tandem skydive in New Zealand while being kind to our planet," said Jools. "We achieve that on a daily basis and now we have the recognition of the industry – it's all our dreams come true!"
